Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1.

What is the difference between APS Swim School and Aquatic Performance Swim Club (APSC)?

The APS Swim School manages swim programs through a systematic approach of having both full administration support and a structured program to deliver the fundamentals of Learn-to-Swim (inclusive of Learn-to-Swim, Cross Training, Learn-to-Dive, Learn-to-Synchro)

Once students are qualified they can start their competitive career with APSC. APSC oversees 5 teams of competitive swimmers and Artistic Swimming (Synchronized) team. The majority APSC recruits are from our Learn-To-Swim graduates.

2.

What is your concept of the Swim School?

To provide a transparent, comprehensive, structured and systematic syllabus of teaching and learning. The range of programs available are progressive starting with the 8 station Learn-to-Swim program. After which students chose to continue their swimming career with Cross Training or chose to explore Learn-to-Synchro or Learn-to-Dive.

3.

Are all APS teachers qualified?

APS adheres to a strict and thorough selection process for all our swim teachers.
All teachers undergo an intensive in-house training with APS and new teachers must be assessed as competent in all aspects of a class before they are given classes of their own.

When assigned swim teachers are ill or unavailable, a relief teacher will conduct the class. All teachers are trained staff of the Swim School.

4.

How do I enroll my child?

Please review Our Programs available on this website to have a better understanding on the programs available. Do also check out our Policy and Guidelines (under the FAQ tab). This is important to ensure parents and child are agreeable to the policies of the school before they sign up. We would like to ensure that both the school and parents' objectives and goals are aligned to foster the best environment for your child to learn.

Once agreeable to the policy and guidelines, contact us to set up an appointment for evaluation. Evaluations are strictly by appointment only.

5.

What is the minimum age my child can start at APS Swim?

A child must be at least 4 years old upon registration.

6.

How long must I wait after the evaluation for my child to be enrolled in a class?

If there is  a suitable class at your preferred time for your child's level, you will be able to commence the class on the following week. if there isn't any suitable classes, your child will be placed on the waiting list and may take approximately 3-12 weeks. Our class placement department takes great care in matching the classes according to the evaluated class level.

The waiting period would also depend on various factors such as the available time schedule provided by the parents, the outcome of the evaluation, and the availability of time slots.

Small class ratio is another aspect contributing to the waiting period.

We would appreciate if parents could provide us with more time alternatives for swim classes as this will allow ease of placement thereby ensuring that they will get a class soon.
